Land's End to John O'Groats 2009

32 local cyclists will ride from Lands End to John O'Groats for local charities in July.
3 Tandems and 26 solo cyclists from the Weston super Mare area are aiming to raise money for Weston Hospicecare and CLIC by cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. The cyclists, 6 ladies and 26 men set off on the gruelling 933 mile ride on Friday July 3rd, averaging well over 60 miles a day and they aim to arrive in John O'Groats on Sunday July 19th. Ages of the cyclists range from 41 to over 70 with 2 members over 70 and many in their 60's and 50's. After a hard days ride they will spend each night under canvas at a different campsite along the route.
The cyclists are from the Weston Chain Gang, a local group who meet informally every Saturday morning for a cycle ride. Many are also members of Weston Athletic Club.
The ride has been organised and funded by the cyclists themselves with vehicle support from "The Window Merchants". All monies raised by the group will go directly to the two charities.
They will be passing through Weston on Monday 6th with an overnight stop and setting off again on Tuesday morning from the Woolpack in St Georges at 08:45.
